My old boyfriend’s new girlfriend’s old boyfriend…

I have no idea why this fascinates me so much (ok, having re-read that, “fascinates” is just creepy here; I just love the fact that it took researchers to come to the conclusion that’s listed below). Maybe its not a good thing. But The New Shelton Wet/Dry, one of my blog crushes of the moment, has a funny/interesting/weird article about the sexual habits of high school students.

A professor at Ohio State University set out to study high schooler’s sexual tendencies with the expectation that a few slutty girls would make up the majority of sexual encounters, basically forming “epicenters” of sexual activity. Only he was wrong. And he came up with a rule that defines his findings:

A girl is loath to date her old boyfriend’s new girlfriend’s old boyfriend.

I have no idea why, but I find that statement oddly humorous and yet somehow profound.

PS. The Helmut Newton shot is fantastic. Note to self to dig into his work more.

This is me.

I originally started this blog to track my run training, but I could never get motivated to actually write about my run training. The only person interested in that is me (and maybe my mother), so why I expected anyone else to waste time reading it is beyond me. So instead, inspired in part by other personal blogs that I keep an eye on, I’ve decided to make it a general random thought dumping ground. Be forewarned, these thoughts can definitely be random.

A little about me to get started. Again, I have no idea why you’d read this if you didn’t know me, but as a famously high catepillar once said, “begin at the beginning”. I’m 26. I grew up in San Antonio, Tejas, but refused to learn Spanish. I went to college at Washington University in St. Louis before migrating back south to UT Austin for graduate school. After an intense period of dehydration, I decided that perhaps pollution was better than heat and found myself selling almost everything I owned. Which led me to New York where I’m currently an art director at an ad agency with lofty aspirations. (I have the aspirations, not the agency. Would that make me “a highly aspirated art director at an ad agency”?)

I started blogging a year ago when I was asked to join the team at Beyond Madison Avenue. I also manage (or at least try to manage) my own website featuring my advertising and photography work which can be found at www.dannynathan.com.

That’s the basics. If you want to know anything else, feel free to ask. A very little bit of searching will yield many ways to reach me.
